FAQ’s

What is in Nature’s Aid Natural Products?

Well, the active ingredients in our Products are Cytokinins and Humic Acid. Cytokinins applied to the soil increase microbial life and activity. The microbial life is what transfers nutrients into plant usable form and in the case of phosphorus, delivers the nutrient to the plant root. Cytokinins are applied to the seed or plant foliage. Cytokinins are one of the five major plant growth hormones. Cytokinins are involved in cell division and in the making of new plant organs, like a root or a shoot. Cytokinins are like the fountain of youth in plants. They delay senescence or the natural aging process that leads to death in plants. In the cell cycle, they encourage cells to divide! Cytokinins are involved in repair, too. If a plant becomes wounded, it can fix itself with the help of cytokinins and auxin.

Plant growth hormones are like tools in a tool chest. Using the right product at the right time allows growers to tailor their crops how they see fit.

Humic acid in the soil is a nutrient chelator. In the soil, humic and fluvic acids are important chelators, combining minerals into organic compounds that are more available to plants. They also tie up toxins, making them less available to plants. They will already be present in good soils with lots of organic matter. Otherwise, they will be lacking and it will be beneficial to bring them in while also focusing on increasing the organic matter content of the soil. They increase the water infiltration and water-holding capacity of the soil. They greatly improve the soil, increase plant root growth and metabolism, enhance seed germination, and help plants deal with environmental stresses. They remove odors in slurry and compost piles, and keep irrigation lines clean. They are often applied with microbial inoculants and liquid organic fertilizers.

Humic acid applied to seed and foliage – research shows that plants start to respond in as little as four hours, and vigorous root growth and stress recovery is often evident in as little as two days. If you condition your plants against stress with humic acids and cytokinins, plants will stay greener longer and recover faster from stress. Improved levels of plant protection against heat stress, drought stress, UV stress and salt stress. Just remember to condition plants against stress before the stress happens.

Which product should I use?

All of them. They work together to give the plant small doses of the active ingredients over the growing stages of the plant’s life cycle. Hormones are usually found in very small concentrations, but boy do they pack a punch! Measured results are multiple times better when using all the Products compared to just one. Plant hormones are signal molecules produced within the plant, and occur in extremely low concentrations. Hormones regulate cellular processes in targeted cells locally and are moved to other locations in other functional parts of the plant. Hormones also determine the formation of flowers, stems, leaves, the shedding of leaves, and the development and ripening of fruit. Plants, unlike animals, lack glands that produce and secrete hormones. Instead, each cell is capable of producing hormones. Plant hormones shape the plant, affect seed growth, time of flowering, the sex of flowers, senescence of leaves, and fruits.

Soil-Aid in the Spring is best applied at or before seeding. Early Riser applied to the seed, slip or transplant. Super Crop applied to the foliage from 2-leaf stage on.  Winter Fix is applied to the soil in the fall to allow microorganisms to decompose chemical and trash residue after harvest.

Do I wait to apply these Products after the crop is stressed? For example, insect or disease pressure or hail?

No, Nature’s Aid Products promote health of the plants. They are proactive, which means the healthier a plant is the better it will deal with stress. They should be applied following the program above. Super Crop can be applied starting at 2-leaf stage and then at regular intervals until ripening. One thing to remember, this is not magic, it is Nature. Plants need the hormones in them before the damage occurs to effectively repair, grow, and survive such stresses. Once again, if you condition your plants against stress with humic acids and cytokinins, plants will stay green longer and recover faster. Improved levels of plant protection against heat stress, drought stress, UV stress and salt stress. Just remember to condition plants against stress before the stress happens.

What is the difference between Plant Growth Hormones(PGH) and Plant Growth Regulators(PGR)?

Plant growth hormones come from plants in Nature. PGRs are man-made synthetic chemicals made to copy the natural hormones, since Nature can not be patented…

Why should I use Nature’s Aid Natural Products over any of the competitors?

Simple, ease of use and more consistent results with a Product from Nature. No need for an extra pass over your land. The products can be easily added to your existing routine. Soil-Aid has been used for many years with spring burn-off or mixed into liquid fertilizer program. Early Riser can be mixed in with chemical seed treatments. Super Crop mixes in with existing in-crop spray applications. Finally, Winter Fix can be added to fall spraying program. (A jar test is always recommended when mixing products.)

All the Products can be applied thru a sprayer nozzle. So, Soil-Aid, Super Crop and Winter Fix can be easily mixed into a sprayer tank and applied onto the land/crop. Early Riser can be applied by soaking, in trench drench or existing seed treatment system. It took years to produce a concentrated product that will easily dilute. We have had 40+ years to perfect the formula. There seems to be a lot of fermented products on the market over the last 10 years. Most likely they are gibberellic acid (GA), which is another of the 5 major plant growth hormones but one that we tried to use years ago with varying consistency. We on the other hand, relied on 40+ years of research from Dr. T.L. Senn, Head Professor Emeritus Department of Horticulture, Clemson University. Tee visited southern Alberta in the 70’s and 80’s to give us advice on the Products and give seminars to our customers on his vast knowledge of the active ingredients. The success of the Products is directly linked to the quality of the ingredients used, formulation of the ingredients, and the delivery system to get the active ingredients to where they are most effective.
